Renewal & Re-examination of Diving License After Age 70When you reach age 70, the DMV automatically requires that renewals be in person rather than by mail. You may be asked to take a written test to ensure that you are up-to-date on any new laws that have been passed. Your vision will also be tested.A police officer can also, at his discretion, request the DMV to retest you. Further, your doctor is required by law to notify DMV of any health problem that may affect your ability to drive safely. Neighbors, friends or relatives can also request the DMV to retest you. Once the DMV decides to re-examine, there are three parts to the test: vision test, written test, and skills or driving test. Should you fail any one of the above, you have the right to a hearing at the DMV with an attorney. A hearing can be requested before or after your driving privileges are revoked. |
